Hey guys in this short tutorial I will walking you through the easy process of upgrading your IPB 2.3.6 board to the newest IPB 3.0.0 build.

Now from personal experience i have had no Issues upgrading from 2.3.6 to 3.0 Final even though I have with the Beta and RC builds. Typically speaking I find it preferable as with most things to do a clean install. If you absolutely must do an upgrade than the process is just as simple.

The first thing you want to do is ofcourse make sure you have a copy of of the upgrade package if you do than what you need to do next is upload the files included in the Upload folder vis ftp to wherever yo have 2.3.6 installed. AFter the install you need to rename or delete conf_global.dist.php. After this is done you will now be ready to begin the upgrade. To begin the upgrade you need to navigate www.yoursite.com/admin/upgrade ofcourse replacing www.yoursite.com with your actual URL after which you should see this screen...

After entering your Admin user name and password click Next to move on to the System Requirements Check page. If you see Pass and Passed in green letters next to the requirements than you are set to click on Next to continue the upgrade.

Now you should be on the Application select page which should already have your 2.3.6 IPB installation selected. Click on Next to coninute with the upgrade.

On the next page you will be presented with several options pertaining to the upgrade you can modify these to your liking as the options are pretty self explanatory but if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Once you have set your options you can click next.

On this next page you are presented with two more options which you should just leave as they are. At this point you are really to begin the actual upgrade. To do this simply click in the Start Upgrade button in the lower right hand corner.

After the upgrade has begun it will take some time to complete when it has completed yo should see this last screen if all went well...

The last screen shows your soem more information about the upgrade you can access your new installation by clicking on the your upgrade is complete! link.
